Betty H. MansfieldMay 17, 1924 ~ August 26, 2017 (age 93)
Betty H. Mansfield, 93, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2:40 p.m. at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb. She was born on May 17, 1924 in Blandinsville to Frank and Margaret Frank Huston. She married Harrison Mansfield at her parents home in Blandinsville. They were divorced.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Mark and John. Mark Mansfield, spouse Susan and son Paul reside in Redwood City, CA. John Mansfield, spouse Dawn, and their two children Olivia and Robert reside in Flower Mound, TX. Betty also had several nieces and nephews including Janice Bocke of Quincy, IL, and Miles Simonson of Long Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas, and sister and bother-in-law, Katherine and John E. Simonson of Roseville, IL.
Betty attended Blandinsville H.S.. Culver Stockton College and Western Illinois University. While attending Culver Stockton College she joined Chi Omega sorority and helped establish a chapter at Western Illinois University and served as an Advisor to the sorority for many years.
During her life she also lived in Kansas City, MO; Pana. IL; Monmouth, IL; and Macomb, IL. She worked at Southwestern Bell in Kansas City, MO, and also at the Western Auto hardware store which she owned with her husband Harrison in Pana, IL She also was a secretary at WIU, substitute teacher in Macomb and employee at State Police HQs in Macomb.
Betty was also a member of the Presbyterian Church were she was a Sunday school teacher and also served as a Deacon and Elder. She was actively involved in a number of clubs and organizations including the Macomb Country Club, Business and Professional Club, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Anna L. Parker Book Club and P.E.O. Sisterhood.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb with Reverend Mark Merrill officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Private burial of ashes will be held in Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville at a later date.
Donations in her memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb.
