Eloise M. LowdermanMay 8, 1924 ~ May 24, 2017 (age 93)
Eloise M. Lowderman, 93, of 501 Candy Lane, Macomb, passed from this earth on Tuesday, May 24. Born May 8, 1924, in Swan Township, Warren County, IL, to Sidney and Esther (Neidy) Smith, she married Wayne H. Lowderman on March 10, 1943, in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1998.
Eloise is survived by two sons, Jack (Sherry) Lowderman, and Ron (Charlotte) Lowderman of Macomb; twelve grandchildren, Monte (Carrie) Lowderman of Macomb, Brent (Kris) Lowderman of Macomb, Cody (Abby) Lowderman of Macomb, Kim (Matt) Lund of Gurnee, Mark (Laura) Lowderman of Lake Zurich, Kristi (Clayton) Schmidt of Macomb, Mitch (Marilyn) Wooldridge of Macomb, Lori (Scott) Schwerer of Blandinsville, Cathy (Chris) Cook of Columbia, MO, Mary Lou (Benny) Ortiz of Tulsa, OK, John (Chris) Henkle of Web City, MO, Ted Henkle of IL; twenty-six great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Vince (Betty) Smith of Roseville, and two sisters, Erma (Arthur) Lewis, and Gaila (Raymond) Parsons, both of Roseville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne, infant son, Larry Wayne, infant daughter, Rita Rue, daughters, Linda (Bob) Henkle of Tulsa, OK, and Nelrose (Raymond) Wooldridge of Macomb, grandson, Cory Lowderman, and sister, Ima Jean (Roy) Bycroft of Roseville.
Eloise spent her early years near Roseville, IL, and moved to Macomb with her husband following her marriage. She was a supporting partner as Wayne built a successful livestock dealer and bull leasing business with a reputation founded on honesty and integrity. In 1969, they developed the mobile home park on East Jackson Street, Macomb, now known as Kiljordan Meadows. Additionally, they developed the shopping area near the former K-Mart building, as well as Wesley Village Retirement and Health Care Center.
Eloise was a patriot who was passionate about her nation and community. Active in the Republican party for a number of years, she served as McDonough County Republican Chair Woman from 1972 through the early 80's. A highlight of her service was being named as the 17th Congressional
District Coordinator for the Ronald Reagan campaign and elected as delegate to the Republican National Convention during the 1976 Presidential election.
She and Wayne were honored to be invited by Reagan to attend his inauguration as President in 1981.
A member of Macomb Women's Club for many years, she was named as the club's Woman of the Year in 2004. As a member of BPOE Deers for over sixty years, she served as a frequent officer. She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and enjoyed her membership in the Macomb Country Club, Macomb Eagles, and the VFW Auxiliary. An avid card player, she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of a pitch or canasta game, and valued the special friendship of those with whom she shared her passion.
Family and time spent together were genuine treasures for Eloise. Most holidays and special occasions centered about her extended dining table where all gathered to enjoy her delicious home cooked dishes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 30, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, with the Rev. Dr. Gary Elg officiating. The family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, May 29 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Village or to MDH Hospice.
