Marjorie Elaine StevensJuly 31, 1925 ~ March 7, 2017 (age 91)
Marjorie Elaine Stevens, age 91, of Good Hope, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:20 P.M. on Tuesday, March 7 at Grand Prairie Assisted Living in Macomb, Illinois. She was born on July 31, 1925 in Ipava, Illinois the daughter of Carl and Myrtle Rauch Chambers. She married Kenneth Stevens on December 27, 1945 in Macomb.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth, three daughters Sherry (Terry)Beam of Wee-Ma-Tuk, Sandy (Mitchell)Welsh of Blandinsville and Denise (Chet) Jacobus of East Peoria, seven grandchildren Brian (Aimee) Beam, Brad (Sarah) Beam, Steve (Tiffani) Welsh, Shannon (Renee)Welsh, Ashley (Brad) Mahony, Jenna Hilton, and Stephanie (Matt) Bates, 18 great-grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, and three step grandchildren John (Heidi) Jacobus, Jenni (John) Markello, and Jim (Laura) Jacobus. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Debby Stevens, one grandson Brett Beam, and one sister Vera Turner.
Marjorie lived most of her life in the Good Hope area moving there in 1951. She had worked as a secretary at Camp Ellis, Champaign, the WIU Lab School, Austin Construction, and also at WIU in Sherman Hall. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb.
For several years she and Kenneth participated in the Lay Witness Missions in church’s in IL, MO, IA, IN. She was a crusader for Christ and wanted to share the word with others. She used every opportunity she had to make sure people knew Jesus rught up to the end of her life on this earth.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb on Friday, March 10, 2017. Rev. Dr. Howard White will officiate. Private burial of ashes will be held at a later time. The family will meet with friends one hour before the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Harbor Lights Hospice in Galesburg or to the Wesley United Methodist Church. Clugston - Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of the arrangements.
