Mary Lou Friday, 78 of rural Colchester passed away at 2:38 a.m. Monday, December 25, 2017 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born on March 8, 1939 to James and Elva Edwards Bartley. She married John T. "Tom" Friday on October 18, 1956 in Denver, Colorado. He passed away on April 18, 2008.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister and one daughter, Annie Lump recently.

She is survived by her children, Randall T. (Sheryl) Friday of rural Colchester, Henry E. Friday of rural Colchester, Jamie L. Powell of Macomb, John K. Friday of Macomb, Melissa L. Friday of Ohio, Jonathen Andrew Friday of Macomb, Diana (Mathew) Walden of Oklahoma, Kathy Myers of Macomb, Roxanne Pleskovitch of Virginia, Ryal Martin of Nashville, Tennessee, Sharon (Logan) Burkle of Colchester, Karen (Marty) McClellan of Quincy, Max Stoneking of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jackie (Terry) Sullivan of Macomb; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; in addition she was a foster mother to an additional 227 children over a 25 year period, loving each as if they were her own..

Mary Lou had a love for horses and dogs both. She enjoyed going out to eat and fixing huge dinners on the holidays for her family and whoever popped in the door. She loved to visit with everyone and very much enjoyed time spent with her family.

She in the past worked at Skateland, Macomb School District and McDonough District Hospital.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 in St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Mary with Reverend A. Lee Unger officiating. There will be no visitation.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to the Mary Lou Friday Memorial Fund.

Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
