Mary Eileen Rouse

Mary Eileen Rouse, 90, of Galesburg, formerly of Macomb passed away at 6:02 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

She was born on September 10, 1926 in LaHarpe, Illlinois to Elmer and Leta Albaugh Bennett. She married Gerrard "Shorty" Rouse on May 6, 1946 in Bushnell, Illinois. He passed away on January 15, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marvin Rouse; one granddaughter, Natalie Rouse; one son-in-law, Mike Brueck; two sisters, Lorain Griffith and Patsy Holmes and three brothers, Lowell, Lisle and Harold Bennett.

Mary is survived by three daughters, Ketura Brueck of Burlington, Iowa, Loretta (Tim) Thomann of Middleton, Iowa and Ila (Roger) Peterson of Galesburg, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Scott (Mindy) Brueck, Tricia Thomann, Kelly Thomann, Tanner (Trisha) Thomann, Tyler (Jeni) Rouse, Jim (Kara) Roe, Bill Roe and Brett (Jennifer) Peterson Sr.; thirteen great-grandchildren, Cameron Brueck, Parker Brueck, Tevin Thomann, Shaelyn Thomann, Kyiah Hill, Cash Thomann, Camry Thomann, Emma Rouse, Nora Rouse, Wilder Rouse, Billy Roe, Madalynn Peterson and Brett Peterson Jr.; one brother, Dean (Darlene) Bennett and many nieces and nephews.

Mary graduated from Gem City Business College in 1944. She worked for J.C. Penney and managed a fabric shop Fab n Trim in Macomb. She the worked for the Circuit Clerk at the McDonough County Court House for many years before her retirement.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb with Reverend A. Lee Unger officiating. There will be no visitation.
