The family then moved to a farm near Blandinsville in the early 1940's where Raymond began working for several farmers. This is where he met and eventually married Lora Haney on November 25, 1945 in Good Hope. She passed away on January 9, 2017.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Glenn, who was killed on Iwo Jima in 1945, Carl, William C. Jr., Wayne, Lyle and Harold and James, in infancy; two half-sisters, Mable and Edith and one grandson, James.

They had four children who all survive, Ronald (Margaret) Oliver of Florrisant, Missouri and Roger (Yvonne) Oliver of Macomb; two daughters, Diana (Dennis) DeHaven of Blandinsville and Elaine (Mark) May of Oxford, Mississippi; a third honorary daughter, Janet Shryack Strunk of Iowa; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Oliver of Blandinsville and Richard (Kathy) Oliver of Gentry, Arkansas and two sisters, Christine Agans of Rushville and Kathleen Barry of Macomb.

Raymond’s love of farming took him to the Null Seed Farm on December 8, 1948 where he worked for 47 years full time then another 5 years part time after his retirement. During the years that Null seed farm produced hybrid seed corn, Raymond was in charge of the production plant and warehouse, something Raymond was proud of. Raymond’s greatest love was his wife and family and farming. He never met a stranger.
