John George Coker, age 64, of Macomb, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:25 P.M. at Farmington County Manor in Farmington. He was born on August 24, 1954 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Vernon and Olive Barrett Coker.
He is survived by three sons Johnny (Katie) Coker of Macomb, Adam Coker and Ryan Wilson, two sisters Janice (Don) Wisslead of Sciota, and Kay (Bill) Nebergall of Pekin, Illinois, one brother-in-law Dave Burgess of Peoria, four nieces and seven nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Ann Burgess.
John lived his early life in Macomb, he joined the Army after high school and was stationed in Radcliffe, Kentucky, he moved back to Macomb and was then stationed in Germany for three years he moved back to Macomb in 1986. John served during the Vietnam Era from 1974 until 1980.He had also worked at NTN Bower for several years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Clugston – Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Rev. Carl Redding will officiate. The family will meet with friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Friday. Full military rights will be conducted at the funeral home following the services. All are invited to a potluck at the American Legion in Macomb following the military services. Potluck dishes may be dropped off at the American Legion prior to the funeral services.
