Royal J. BryanAugust 22, 1925 ~ July 19, 2017 (age 91)
Royal J. Bryan, 91, of 1200 East Grant Street, Macomb passed away at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Wesley Village Healthcare Center in Macomb.
He was born on August 22, 1925 in Lee Township, Fulton County to Leonard and Mary Hoyle Bryan. He married Margaret Ash on September 21, 1962 in Macomb. She passed away on February 25, 2013.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Cecil, Wayne, Herschel, Leonard and Lowell Bryan and five sisters, Annettalie Garrison, Georgia Mize, Ines Haffner Johns, Lula Stephans and Bessie Harland.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Cuba High School in 1942. He served in the Army from December 10, 1943 to April 29, 1946. He was a member of the 303rd FA BN of the 97th Infantry Division. He served in both the European and Pacific theaters and held the rank of Sargeant.
He worked for Scotland Road District for 39 years, 18 of those as Road Commissioner. He was past Commander of Post 6 Macomb American Legion, serving in that capacity in 1964 and 1965. He was also a member of the Macomb VFW. He went on the Great River Honor Flight out of Hannibal on June 24, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 24, 2017 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Jungil Rhee officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites being conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.
