Donald J. Spolum, 86, of Macomb passed away at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at Prairie City Rehab and Healthcare Center in Prairie City.
He was born on March 2, 1933 in Macomb to Russell and Faye (Griffith) Spolum. He married Janet Lung on June 1, 1990. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tina Turner of Macomb and Sherry (Bruce) Holmes of Macomb; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Todd Turner.
Don lived all of his life in Macomb. He worked for WIU at the Physical Plant for many years and also worked maintenance at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb. He was a former member of Macomb Elks Club. He was an avid Cubs, Bears and NASCAR fan. He and his wife, Janet wintered in Donna, Texas for many years. He also bowled in several men’s leagues in Macomb for many years.
He was an Army veteran.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend David Lafary officiating. Family will meet with friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
