Jerry E. Thomson, 73, of Macomb passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Bickford Cottage in Macomb.
He was born on September 24, 1946 in Macomb to Travis and Dorothy Long Thomson.
He is survived by several aunts and uncles; many cousins on the Long side and the Thomson side including his care takers, George (Marj) Long of rural Adair; a special friend, Shari Curtis and his rescue barn cat, Muffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeron Thomson.
Jerry had a Masters in Physics. He taught school for few years in northern Illinois and then was a computer engineer for NTN Bowers for many years before his retirement.
In his last several years he worked on his family farm teaching the ropes to the next generation. He was wanting to learn to run the grain cart and loved taking care of his cattle. He enjoyed family gatherings along with going on bank runs with the kids, Perry, Charlotte and Allison. He was an avid Donald Trump fan.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Harris Cemetery west of Table Grove with David Long officiating.
Memorials may be made to Spring Lake Park.
