Margene Faye (Edwards) Weiss, 79, of Macomb died at 2:02 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.
She was born on July 18, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas to James B. and Louise Coons Edwards. She married Philip Weiss at the Danforth Chapel on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. He survives.
Also surviving is one brother, John Edwards of Clovis, California and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Edwards.
Margene worked at Western Illinois University as an English Professor for 33 years and also in the Department of English and Journalism and Director of Non-Credit Programs in the School of Continuing Education.
She has lived in Macomb since 1970.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the YMCA of McDonough County or Friends of the Macomb Public Library.
