Obituary

Neil J. Welsh, 74, of Good Hope passed away at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2020 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born on May 28, 1945 in Macomb to Max and Carolene Jenkins Welsh. He married Margaret "Meg" Wiesbrock on January 20, 1968 in Biloxi, Mississippi. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Gregory Neil (Gail) Welsh of Morton, Jennifer Welsh (Jim) Seelbach of Lombard, Joshua Wayne (Jennifer) Welsh of Sciota and Amanda Welsh (Jason) Rassi of Mapleton; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Lynn (Diane) Welsh of New Lenox and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Neil was a graduate of Western Illinois University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971.

He lived in the Good Hope area all of his life where he farmed for 40 years.

He was a member of the Blandinsville Christian Church, Blandinsville American Legion, Good Hope Masonic Lodge #617, the Moline Consistory, served as Elder of the former Sciota Christian Church, was a school board member of the Northwestern District #175 and was an avid Sports enthusiast of the district. he was an instrumental part of the committee for the Blandinsville Veteran's Memorial..

Private family graveside services will be held at the Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville with Pastor Gordon Blankenship officiating. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blandinsville Christian Church and may be sent to Meg Welsh, box 186, Good Hope, Illinois 61438.
